Erika Elmuts is the founder of ConsciousParents.org, and creator of the parenting program “Cultivating Conscious Children: A revolutionary approach to bully-proofing your young children”   and author of “The Family Guide to Detoxing your Body and Home.” She is a speaker, writer, and naturopathic practitioner and is a regularly featured parenting expert on San Diego News 6 and Fox 5 San Diego, and also appeared on The Ricki Lake Show. She is trained in clinical nutrition, biofeedback, essential oils, homeopathy, vibrational medicine, herbs, kinesiology, flower essences, color therapy, and energy psychology, and has a B.A. from Harvard and an M.B.A. from Babson College.  She is passionate about supporting parents on the journey of raising physically, emotionally, and spiritually healthy children.

Having spent her youth as a competitive tennis player and earning a top seat on the Harvard tennis team, Erika was accustomed to being young, healthy and strong.  After receiving her MBA from Babson College, she embarked on her career with the same gusto as she had her tennis.  By age 25, she was working in the fast-paced Internet startup world.

Almost overnight, Erika went from being a young, healthy twenty-something, to living the life of someone with Crohn’s Disease.  After being diagnosed by her physician and referred to a top Crohn’s specialist at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, she was told she was facing a lifetime of medication and disease management protocols.  As her doctor put it, “You’ll have your good times and your bad times, but get ready to deal with this for the rest of your life.”

After two years of steroids and other anti-inflammatory medication, she met a natural health practitioner who opened the door to a new understanding of holistic health. Through the application of the energetic properties of organic foods, herbs, supplements, and practice of energy balancing, Erika’s body has now enjoyed almost fifteen years without a single recurrence of the disease.

It was because of that experience that Erika made a decision that would alter the course of her life – she abandoned her corporate career, went back to school, became a Clinical Nutritionist, and began her wellness practice with the intention of helping others achieve optimal health.

Recently, Erika has blended her two passions into one mission by founding ConsciousParents.org, an organization dedicated to helping parents, teachers, and caregivers raise physically, emotionally, and spiritually healthy children.
