Understanding Introverts

Yup.  I’m an introvert.

And so is my daughter.

Which one are YOU? Are you an introvert? Or extrovert?

I find that many people often misunderstand the true definitions of these terms….they assume that introverts are not very social and extroverts are the life of the party.  This is not necessarily an accurate portrayal of the two.  See the video below for a little more detail.

Being a conscious parent, means that you have a sensitivity to this dynamic, and how it CAN cause some friction if you don’t understand it.

As parents, it is also vitally important to understand where on this spectrum your child falls.  It can make a huge difference in raising a child to know themselves, and to be able to honor themselves, and to know how to recharge when needed.

“Solitude matters.  For some people, it is the air that they breathe.”

–Susan Cain, Ted Talk Feb 2012 on introverts

  1. Hi there! The Introvert Entrepreneur reposted this image today and it made me stop and browse to see where all it had ended up – I’m the original designer (but not author) of the Introverts infographic. You can read all about it here and here.

Thanks for sharing it! I’ve been so happy that I could get people talking about the dynamics of introversion and extroversion.
